Please be aware our open day is on:
MONDAY MAY 6th
The green for the event will be open from 11.00 am till 4.00 pm. This is primarily a membership drive for folk to come and have a go at bowls and see if they like it.
And perhaps even to join our club and participate in the wonderful game of bowls. There is no age limit, so Families will be welcome
We are including free refreshments including some cakes. There will be a raffle and all equipement can be provided, including flat soled shoes if you have none.
it would be nice if non-organizing members pop in during the day for a drink and chat to see whats going on and to make for a more convivial atmosphere.
Look forward to seeing you there for support.

THE 'SCENE ON THE GREEN'
This new snippet about the green will hopefully be kept up to date on a regular basis during the season.
Glen, our Greens Liaison man, has said that the green is in 'wonderful' condition.. Andy Butler, Glen himself and the hard working club members who have looked after the green this winter, have a lot to be proud of, producing a condition that is probably the best ever.
UPDATE
Due to the excellent condition of the green ALL treatments required for March were carried out except for one
'Top Dressing' (sand & topsoil ) to enable this to be carried out we need at least four DRY days.
The weather forecast for the foreseeable future is not great we will take it one week at a time but the 'crystal ball' is showing 21st April as the earliest which happens to be the club's official opening day.
I realise all the above is not the greatest news but please
spare a thought for our Green Contractor Andy Butler who looks after many Footbal/Rugby/Cricket/Golf/Bowls playing surfaces on the island and the mainland, this is without doubt Andys worst winter (his own words).
"Positives" if the green was not in such good condition we would be even further behind with all the treatments and cutting of the green as regularly as we are.
The last Eighteen months in the UK are the wettest since records began in 1836......#
This weekend 6th/7th April the clubs annual spring clean took place by the members of VBC, there are still many jobs that are required before the Annual opening of the green on the 21st April, the maintenance team are confident all work will be completed before the Opening,
There are three nest boxes to the west of the green two of these are being occupied by are permanent resident "Blue Tits" hopefully they will once again produce a nest of Chick's.
The borders around the green are ablaze with hyacinth snowdrops and daisy's a really beautiful sight complimented by the smell of wild garlic.
