Woodstock Pilgrims Friday June 3rd 2016
VENTNOR PRESIDENT STEVE WAKE, welcomed WOODSTOCK PILGRIMS from OXFORDSHIRE for their annual visit to the island.
Pilgrims have been making this “pilgrimage” (sorry!) for many years now, always playing Ventnor on the Friday, Totland Bay on the Saturday and Shanklin on their final day, Sunday.
Five years ago Pilgrims presented each of the three clubs they play each year, with a trophy to be competed for annually. This is the fifth time that we have competed for the “Ventnor” Trophy and the fifth time that our name will NOT be appearing on it! However, the result this year was the best ever, with Ventnor losing by ONLY 14 shots.
After last year’s thrashing by 60 shots (141-81) when we lost on all six rinks, this year, by winning three rinks, the final shots score was 114-100 to the visitors. Ventnor’s top rink was John Milmoe, Tony Hornby, David Stead and Phil Turner with a +15 shot aggregate.
